This short test focused on generating a vertical high fantasy city purely through the use of handmade models for detail and style, and prompts to define lighting, colour, camera angles, and layouts.

Inspired by European hillside cities, I aimed to push that concept further, exploring a more fantastical interpretation.

These low detail renders effectively captured the idiosyncratic layering of streets and the overall mood of such an exotic city. This painterly style of concept art is great for fast inspiration and iteration. However, AI still struggles to comprehend three-dimensional space and street planning, often making chaotic choices that a human wouldn’t. Improved training in this area could significantly enhance AI-generated environmental work.
