Director - Simon Hunter

Art - Simon Hunter, Playfish Art Team

2011 - 2013 New Projects Art Director & Senior Illustrator – The Sims Social (BAFTA-Nominated, No. 1 Facebook Game)

  • Managed and directed concept art and prototyping teams.

  • Created in-game vector assets.

  • Developed comprehensive style guides, technical documentation, and artist training materials.

  • Designed and conducted innovation investigations across multiple projects to explore new creative directions.

Playfish was a particularly efficient and creative studio that had firmly established itself at the top of the Facebook charts. With a passionate fanbase, it was poised for even bigger success on mobile.

After launching Sims Social, we built a brilliant prototyping team that could find and define strong game designs quickly.

It was a smart and focused artistic community that developed a whole pile of interesting ideas.

Unfortunately, Playfish was sold to EA, and eventually fell victim to the drastic budget cuts plaguing the company at the time.

The studio's closure led to the formation of new (now well-known) studios. I learned a lot from my two and a half years there, but it was heart breaking to see so much potential cut short.
